Around this time next month, we will be trekking the Gallipoli Peninsula!
Although there's only a mere month to go, it STILL hasn't truly sunk in that I am going to be there so soon.
I am currently enjoying the first week of holidays, and I have to say, it's a nice contrast to my busy school schedule! Nonetheless, I thought it was time to blog again since my adventure is approaching so rapidly and my work load has lowered a bit now that the holidays have come around (A BIT!) ;)
On Sunday the 22nd, my group (Group 1) had a lovely catch up in Kew so that we could meet up before we all saw eachother again at the airport. We chatted on the picnic tables, ate dinner on the grass and played tennis until about 8pm. I feel extremely priviliged to be associated with such amazing girls and feel like we are already great friends. Our parents also got to meet our chaperones Karin and Jacqui, who answered their questions and concerns.
For the past few weeks I have been in contact with my Turkish penpal, Ilayda. I have learnt a lot about her family, her lifestyle and, unfortunately, the time difference between us! Whenever we each try to contact one another on Facebook, the other person is always asleep! She is extremely friendly and I feel like I have made a new friend without having actually met her face to face. We get to spend a day with our penpals in Turkey, so I plan to buy her a souvenir from Australia, as well as something little for her 6 year old twin brothers. Her English is pretty good and my Turkish is...well...developing to put it nicely.
Anyway, I thought I'd just write a quick blog to outline some of the things I've been doing recently, so I hope this blog hasn't been too boring. I will be blogging more in the coming weeks, and even more during and after the trip.
*20 days!!!!!!!!!*
